Hark(ing back)!
My first Church Carol Service in ... years .. strike me down.
A touching, atmospheric affair, including the following classic belters:
- Once in Royal David's City
- O Little Town of Bethlehem
- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen
- O Come all Ye Faithful
- Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
Good to see famous Old Greshamian, Benjamin Britten, making it onto the evening's roster .. twice. One of my old school's more illustrious alumni ... "a prodigious talent from an early age". Yeah but did he play in the school's first XI hockey team for 4 straight year's running, starting at the tender age of 14? I don't think so!

Merry Christmas one and all!

'Coba Coba-cek'*
Just stumbled across this 'surly' close up of much loved Seecharan Family pet, Cobi, who passed away earlier this year, aged 18 human years. This made her the big grand-momma of the house at a whopping 88yrs old in Cat years, may she rest in peace. Cobi was named after the mascot of the Barcelona Olympics (1992, the year of her birth). Great friend and companion. Missed by all.
* the Cek ("Chek") part being a Russian language diminutisation - sic. term of affection - used to shorten common names in Russia as a term of endearment. Why Coba-cek? Her sister, Kasha, had a Russian name (Kasha meaning 'Porridge' - don't ask!), and I just felt the two worked well together.

'Summer, summer, summer tiiiiiime'
Better late than never. Summer Holiday Pix. As I sit like an ice sculpture in our freezing back (knowledge) room, thought I'd post something to warm the cockles during this unfeasibly early/ unfeasibly lasting cold snap. Topic? Our 2nd summer overland excursion to the South of France, Aug '10 ...

'My auld friend the blues ...'
1st December ... hell it's a personal tradition
So this here picture is of my first of the season. Am now well used to being called a heathen at this time of year, by the single malt purists. Why? Because my preferred Christmas tipple is Scotch and Ginger Ale.
No, I don't waste single malt with my xmas mixer Nelly (old school mate and co-founder/ owner of The English Whisky Company). Grants, or Bells or Glenfiddich will do just fine. The taste is a little cloying/ sickly sweet actually as I get older, but the huge flash of nostalgia I get with every sip/ scent more than makes up for it. I love Christmas. So does my family. Bring it on x
