U better Recognize!

Centre spread of today's 'The Argus'

Me ... A centre-fold?! U better believe it. Today's centre spread of Brighton's only local rag. Had a call from BBC South East too. Pity none of it will help us get our money back. But the Balfour Rd PR machine has given it our best shot. Big love going out to 'Maxine Clifford'!

M's just wandered back to her sick bed humming that great J Giles band track ... 'my blood runs cold, my angel is a centre-fold'!

A Festival Virgin* ... (*my first and last?)

And here's a picture of the prick* responsible (Joe Pidgeon). * if you spot him sunning himself on a beach in S. Thailand/ Goa, do get in touch ...

After persuading all my nearest and dearest that this would be THE way to spend our summer bank holiday weekend (at a combined cost of £1,440 - £97.50 for adults and £45 for kids), the fucking organisers of Beachdown 2009 have cancelled with 2 days to go before opening. I bought our 18 (Yes, EIGHTEEN) tickets in February! Our party alone were booking transport and hotels from all over the country. I could write and write but this post on a related website has done my job for me:

"I have to admit that right now I am very unhappy, not only at the short notice of the cancellation but also the complete lack of regard for people who have supported this event against all odds, yes there is an emotional notice on the webpage but twitter, myspace and facebook all look like they haven't been changed for since 24.08.2009, twitter still claims that "Beachdown is not cancelled and day tickets are now available". The whole thing is beginning to smell like a con job to me and is leaving a very sour taste in many mouths I should imagine..
Surely, the organisers (in the loosest sense of the word) dont just think that one paltry (and imo self pitying)page on their own website advising that its cancelled is job done? People have put faith in this and I personally feel cheated and let down.. Once I finally got through to them Ticketline have said that they have no information and I should hold on to my (now worthless) tickets and await further correspondence leaving me £300 out of pocket with no plans for the long weekend.. Thanks a lot Beachdown. There are rumours all over the net of poor management, acts coming from abroad having their travel expenses cancelled months ago and insurance fraud.. Sick!!"

My first attempt at attending a music festival - inspired by the idea of supporting a local initiative ('never have i want, never have I will' attend glastonbury, to quote Snoop) ... and, unless this all ends in a most satisfactory manner, it will be my last attempt at buying ahead of time. Tix on door for me in future. Thanks for fucking nothing Beachdown; you've blown it for all future local organisers, irrespective of their ability/ honourability to achieve what you've spectacularly failed to do. Losers
